Artist’s Point, Grand Marais, Minnesota Morning in the Cabin

Cailyn and Matthew’s Artist’s Point elopement in Grand Marais, Minnesota, was such a sweet day to photograph. As their wedding photographer, I just loved how they really leaned into slowing down and making intentional choices that felt true to them.

They started their morning at Great Northern Stays, an A-frame cabin just outside of town. Coffee, a campfire, and their adorable pup were all part of the plan. I loved how relaxed it felt. There was no rushing, no strict timeline, just a quiet start to the day.

When the time felt right, we headed down a tucked-away trail that opened up to a private stretch of beach. Their dog was in heaven exploring everything, and we just hung out while they wrapped up in a blanket and listened to the waves. Days like this remind me why I love photographing elopements—it’s about being present instead of performing.

Artist’s Point, Grand Marais Elopement Ceremony

For their ceremony, we met at Artist’s Point. By the time we got there, the sun was setting, and the lighting was so good. Moody, golden, and quiet…the North Shore at its best.

There weren’t many people around, which made it even more special. They shared their vows, exchanged rings, and had their ceremony right there on the rocks with Lake Superior as the backdrop. Super simple, super meaningful.

Afterwards, we took some portraits as the light faded into blue hour. They brought lanterns that gave off the perfect glow, and honestly, it fit the vibe of the evening so beautifully.

Why I Loved This Day

What stood out to me about Cailyn and Matthew’s elopement is how it never felt rushed. They created space for themselves to enjoy every part of the day, and that’s what I hope all my couples get to experience.

If you’re planning an elopement on the North Shore—whether at Artist’s Point, in a cabin, or somewhere tucked away—I’d love to help you plan and document it.
